THE WINE

Limestone + Schist took the ideal 2018 growing season up in its magical Gold Country home and ran with it. These 1974-planted own-rooted vines just know how to grow fruit that makes beautiful wine. Bright California sunshine; sense and sensibility. Whole-cluster direct-to-press, barrel-fermented in neutral French oak for six months.

Leporellos addresses the frustration of not living close to a bottle shop or missing out on some of the wines we dig by a couple days.

THE VINEYARD

Our friend Matthew Rorick of Forlorn Hope tends these old, own-rooted vines on his property in Murphys, CA – historic Sierra Foothills Gold Country, a rare California vineyard site comprising the highly unusual combination of limestone and schist soils. When we saw the Chardonnay block for the first time, without knowing what variety it was, we knew we had to work with it. We’re so excited and honored to work with this no-makeup, true-California, liquid gold.
